New. (Katelyn's antlers)

For the last few weeks I prepared pretty hard for a show in my house. It was fun ish... Trying to promote is so hard. This new work was done solely for the show. I'm happy about it mainly because I loved this paper. And I loved the subject. I tried to go soft and relatively realistic... I love white space around a subject too. Isolating a body part, or in this case a look.

Prosperity comes at a price...

I'm feeling like posting. Listening to The Waterboys and working out all the paintings in my head for my upcoming art show. In house. In three days. I have so much to do and there is so little time. My process has been messy yet creative lately. I have five new ideas at once and start them all... Then I repeat the process until there are unfinished artworks lying around everywhere in my room taunting me. One of these buggers has got to get finished somehow.

Lucy in the sky...

This is the finished version. I did a few touch ups this morning. Working with watercolour and detail has it's challanges.

Lucy in the sky...

Today was a waste. I set up a little studio in the attic and did this though. Another half finished painting. This one is a watercolour on paper. I love drawing arms.

Morning After.

This is a first draft of a large acrylic. Large for me.. About 3 feet by 2. I took a photo of my friend after a hard night of partying and she just looked so blissful. More to come. I painted in the rough shapes and for the first time didn't do any sketch... No or very little pencil here.

My friend Katherine takes good photos... This is the second portrait I've done of her. She's a great muse. I tried to add some skull in there just because I love the idea that we are all just skin and bone. That we are so transient in this world.

Late Evening

This is one of my favorite recent watercolours. I'm striving to create a sense of light and brightness that you get just as everything gets dark. Twilight.

Blue Space.

This is an old watercolour. It's one of the few larger ones that I'm proud of. If you look hard you can see the sailboat in the distance.

Cat Girl

This came out of nowhere. I rarely do this kind of thing but it was fun.
